Established in 2014, A+ Math Tutoring specializes in all levels of math and science tutoring. Students may opt for either interactive online sessions or in-person sessions at their home. When A+ Math Tutoring initially formed, we recognized the need for a tutoring company that focused on the subjects that students tend to struggle with the most. We offer the highest quality tutors for subjects ranging from Elementary Math to Calculus, as well as the sciences such as Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Since opening, we’ve grown and have expanded our tutoring focus to include a variety of additional subjects such as English and test prep for the ISEE, SAT and ACT. Each potential tutoring candidate is carefully evaluated for their specialty during the hiring process to ensure our tutors provide the highest level of knowledge and expertise for every student seeking help. Familiarity with School Curriculums
Our goal is to provide the highest quality tutoring support for all curriculums in a manner that makes math enjoyable and easy to grasp. In addition to tutoring in areas such as Mar Vista, Culver City, Redondo Beach, Brentwood, Marina del Rey, Santa Monica and Beverly Hills, our tutors also offer online tutoring for students living in any location. As a result of years of tutoring in the West LA area and beyond, tutors are familiar with the curriculum and expectations of many of the local private and public schools, such as Palisades High, Marlborough, and St Monica’s. We understand the rigorous nature of many of the local schools, as well as the different methods in place, ranging from Common Core to Singapore Math. Our tutors know what it takes to both gain entrance to these schools, as well as succeed while attending them. A+ Math Tutoring remains the tutoring company recommended for inquiring parents by the staff at several highly regarded schools in the area, including Crossroads High School, Wildwood Elementary, and Echo Horizon.
Highly Qualified Tutors
Our carefully-chosen tutors have years of experience tutoring math, science and English. Tutors range from teachers with credentials to recent college graduates to seniors at UCLA, tutoring in their area of study. All candidates go through a rigorous interview process so that only the top candidates are chosen. Important criteria we look for are 1) Great teaching ability 2) A solid command of the material, and 3) A friendly, personable disposition. We feel it’s important for students to feel at-ease during their sessions so that a great interpersonal connection is established. All students learn differently and our tutors understand and embrace this. Tutors are skilled at tailoring their teaching methods to each student’s needs. We’re experienced at helping students with learning challenges, such as ADHD and test anxiety, implementing learning tools aimed at helping with these areas. Whether students are looking to catch up, stay on top of classwork or striving to get ahead by maintaining a high level of performance in their class, A+ Math tutors consider each student’s goal individually when helping . Because we have many local tutors, as well as tutors that hold sessions primarily online, both of these scenarios allow for more flexible scheduling options, including the ability to accomodate last-minute requests that often arise. One-on-One Advantage
The instruction and attention students receive during tutoring sessions help build confidence and allow students to realize their full ability. Tutors are able to pinpoint areas of strengths and weakness, as well as provide the support needed to show significant improvement. Tutors often provide supplemental problems for the student to complete on their own between sessions based on areas that they see need the most attention. Practicing is a great way for students to really solidify their understanding. On the Resources tab of this website, there are assessment tests by grade level that are often helpful in letting the tutor know the areas that need a bit more attention. Many families like the option of having their son/daughter try these tests so that the tutor can better evaluate each student’s needs. View our online resources by grade level that we offer here.
Building Confidence
The tutors at A+ Math Tutoring know that building confidence in one’s ability is often the most vital part of being successful. Many times, students have great ability and aptitude, but their confidence is lacking. Our tutors work to instill this confidence in each student in several ways, including solidifying concepts, providing encouragement and always recognizing improvement. When ideas are explained clearly, students enjoy learning and their confidence soars. By helping reveal a student’s true ability, they often discover new academic interests, opening their minds to exploring their realized abilities.
